Markets :: Basic Chemicals :: Inorganic Chemicals :: Titanium Dioxide Sherwin-Williams and Altair Nanotechnologies Form TiO2 JV1:43 PM MDT | July 25, 2007 | Chemical Week Editorial Staff Sherwin-Williams (SW) and Altair Nanotechnologies (Reno, NV), an advanced ceramic nanomaterials supplier, have formed AlSher Titania (Reno), a joint venture to develop and produce titanium dioxide (TiO2) pigment and nano TiO2 materials. The jv combines Altair and SW’s respective hydrochloride pigment processes, the companies say. That will enable the production of TiO2 at a “significantly lower price point, both in terms of capital outlay and operating costs,” compared to traditional sulfate- and chloride-based technologies, they say.
