The expansion, part of a three-year investment plan to increase global fumed metal oxide capacity 35%-50%, is expected to be complete in 2012. The company did not disclose the cost of the expansion. Cabot’s Barry plant is adjacent to a Dow Corning silicone monomer facility. Dow provides Cabot with silanes for conversion into fumed silica, which Dow then uses to produce compounded silicones products. The two...
