Mosaic Settles Lawsuit over Florida Phosphate Expansion3:48 PM MST | February 27, 2012 | Kara Sissell Mosaic has reached an agreement with environmental groups that will allow the company to reopen and expand a phosphate mine at South Fort Meade, Florida. The agreement in part requires Mosaic to build a 4,400-acre ranch and donate it for use as a state park. Environmental groups sought an injunction against Mosaic’s Fort Meade mine expansion because it allegedly would have required the unnecessary destruction of hundred of acres of wetlands, according to local press reports.
