PotashCorp to Idle Lanigan Mine Temporarily

PotashCorp says it will shut its Lanigan, SK, potash mine from September 15 to October 13 in order to match supply with market demand. Lanigan is PotashCorp's largest potash production site, with a nameplate capacity of 3.8 million m.t./year. The outlook for potash demand is mixed, given reports of weaker demand in China and uncertainty surrounding how the U.S. drought will impact fertilizer application rates going forward, market sources say.  According to local media reports, Brazilian mining giant Vale (Rio de Janeiro) will delay plans for a $3-billion...
