Orascom and Sonatrach Form Fertilizers JV

Orascom Construction Industries (Cairo) says it has formed a joint venture with Sonatrach (Algiers) to build a grassroots fertilizer complex at Arzew, Algeria. Orascom has a 51% stake in the jv, Sorfert Algérie, and Sonatrach holds the rest. Sorfert will build a nitrogen fertilizer complex with capacity to produce 700,000 m.t./year of ammonia and 1 million m.t./year of urea.
