Fire at Yara’s JV Site in Libya Kills Two

Yara International says that a fire occurred at the company’s Libyan Norwegian Fertiliser Co. (Lifeco) joint venture site at Marsa El Brega, Libya on July 11, while production was stopped for maintenance, and that two employees were killed and two others were injured as a result of the incident. The fire broke out in a heat exchanger while scheduled maintenance work was taking place. Yara has a 50% stake in Lifeco, which was established in 2009, and National Oil Corp. (NOC; Tripoli), and Libyan Investment Authority (Tripoli) each have 25% stake. Yara says...
