Agrium delays $3-billion US nitrogen fertilizer project

Agrium announced today that it has decided to suspend engineering development on its greenfield nitrogen fertilizer project in the US Midwest and “focus efforts on attempting to secure a strategic partner and a gas contract for the project at this time,” the company says. The total cost for the planned facility, with production capacity of 1.8 million m.t./year, is estimated to be about $3 billion.
