Northern Plains Nitrogen plans $1.5-billion fertilizer plant in North Dakota

Northern Plains Nitrogen (NPN; Valley City, ND) has announced plans to build a $1.5-billion nitrogen fertilizer complex northwest of Grand Forks, ND. NPN was conceived by growers in the northern plains based on research conducted by North Dakota State University.   At a recent project launch ceremony, North Dakota Governor Jack Dalrymple said that the plant will utilize the increasing supplies of natural gas across the region and will provide a reliable regional supply of fertilizer while reducing producers’ dependence on imported products.   The...
