U.S. Chlor-Alkali Production Rates Rise in August

Average U.S. chlor-alkali operating rates rose 2-percentage points in August, to 87%, according to the latest statistics reported by the Chlorine Institute (Arlington, VA). Total chlorine production increased about 1.4% in August compared with July. Chlorine gas production was higher by about 27,495 tons, to 992,371 tons, up 2.9% from July. Liquid chlorine production fell by 2,758 tons, to 795,802 tons, or 0.3% less than the year-ago period. Year-on-year total chlorine production for August fell about 6.9% from August 2010, to 1,788,173 tons.   Meanwhile...
