U.S. Chlor-Alkali Operating Rates Rise

Average operating rates at U.S. chlor-alkali plants jumped for the second consecutive month, rising to 79% in July, a 2-percentage point increase from June, says the Chlorine Institute (Arlington, VA). Chlorine production rose nearly 5% in July compared with June. 53,112 tons more chlorine gas and 23,293 tons more liquid chlorine were produced, up about 6.25% and 3.3%, respectively.
