Thai Firm Builds Chlor-alkali Plant

AGC Chemicals (Thailand) (Bangkok) is investing Baht 400 million ($11.7 million) to build a chlor-alkali plant at its Samutprakarn, Thailand manufacturing complex. The company has awarded the engineering, procurement and construction contract to Toyo-Thai Corp. to build the plant, which will replace an old mercury process facility. Completion of the new plant, based on the Asahi Glass ion exchange resin technology, is scheduled for the first quarter of 2010.
