OxyChem's Earnings Fall in Third Quarter

OxyChem, the chemicals business of Occidental Petroleum, reported third-quarter earnings of $72 million, down 67% from the year-ago period, on sales down 42%, to $842 million. “Continued weakness in the U.S. housing, automotive and durable goods sectors resulted in lower volumes for chlorine, caustic soda and polyvinyl chloride,” OxyChem says.
