Force majeure was declared on December 31, 2008 due to an “unexpected equipment failure” during an attempted start-up of the plant after a scheduled one-week outage, the company says. The force majeure affected products including bleach, caustic soda, chlorine, hydrochloric acid, and hydrogen.
