Revolutionary changes for the North American petrochemical industry are occurring due to new shale gas resources, Skip Teel, v.p./olefins at Westlake Chemical, told attendees at IHS Chemical’s World Petrochemical Conference currently being held in Houston. “Mixed NGL production from gas plants has expanded from 1.7 million bbl/day in 2005 to 2.2 million bbl/day in 2011, with significant further growth to come,” Teel says.
