The plan is designed to adjust the company’s production to a steep fall in demand resulting from the global economic crisis, and it aims to cut costs by an annualized €48 million ($64 million). Ercros plans to close a chlor-alkali plant, and units making ethylene dichloride (EDC) and chloromethanes, at Palos de la Frontera, Spain.
