Dow Closes Three Latex Sites; Signs Deal for Chlor-Alkali Supply

Dow Chemical says it will permanently close its Pittsburg, CA; King’s Lynn, U.K.; and Varennes, PQ latex manufacturing plants. Dow says it transferred most employees from these sites to other parts of the company. The decision was based on “rapidly changing market conditions, such as the competitiveness of the raw material position, the small scale, and the age of the facilities, as well as the outlook for the global latex market,” says Philippe Raynaud de Fitte, general manager/emulsion polymers.
