Canexus Completes Chlor-Alkali Plant Upgrade

Canexus (Calgary) says it has completed its $206-million technology conversion project for its North Vancouver, BC chlor-alkali facility. The project replaced the site’s existing 50-year-old diaphragm technology and assets with membrane technology and will expand capacity 35% to 210,000 ECUs, a combination of chlorine and caustic soda units. Startup was originally planned for the first quarter of 2010, but was postponed due to delays. The plant is now expected to startup the week of June 21, with commercial shipments before the end of June, Canexus says...
