Qatar Petroleum and Shell Agree to Develop Petchems Project in Qatar

Qatar Petroleum (QP) and Shell have signed a memorandum of understanding to study jointly the development of a major petrochemicals complex at Ras Laffan, Qatar. The announcement confirms CW's exclusive report earlier this month that the two companies are still in negotiations on the joint venture, having signed a letter of intent in 2006.   The proposed complex is expected to be based on a world-scale ethane cracker.
