Solazyme reports second-quarter earnings, expands collaboration with AkzoNobel

Algae-based oils firm Solaymze (South San Francisco) announced today that it has expanded its joint development agreement with AkzoNobel to include funding to Solazyme for product development as well as key terms for a multi-year supply agreement. AkzoNobel and Solazyme first signed a collaboration deal in May 2013 to codevelop ingredients for AkzoNobel’s surfactants and coatings products using Solazyme’s algae-based triglycerides.
