French biotech firm finds renewable route to butadiene

Biochemical company Global Bioenergies (Évry, France) says it has discovered a direct biological pathway to convert renewable feedstocks into butadiene. The finding completes the first phase of a strategic partnership agreement Global Bioenergies signed in July 2011 with rubber maker Synthos and triggers a €1.5-million milestone payment.
