Cobalt and Andritz sign biorefinery deal

Renewable fuel and chemical firm Cobalt Technologies (Mountain View, CA) says it has signed an exclusive global cooperation and supply agreement with Andritz Inc., a provider of advanced pretreatment technologies for biofuel production, to integrate Cobalt’s proprietary lignocellulosic pretreatment process for the production of n-butanol with Andritz’s customized pretreatment systems. n-butanol is used in the production of paints, lacquers, and other surface coatings.
