Amyris reaches commercial milestone for biobased farnesene

Biobased fuels and chemicals firm Amyris (Emeryville, CA) says it has made the first commercial shipment of Biofene-brand farnesene from a purpose-built facility. The company, which previously had relied on contract manufacturers, says it has operated multiple tanks without contamination or "surprises" at the Brotas, Brazil, fermentation plant.
