ADM forms biobased superabsorbent JV in Sri Lanka

Archer Daniels Midland (ADM), CIC Holdings, and Chemanex say they have formed a joint venture to build and operate a biobased superabsorbent polymers (SAPs) production facility near Colombo, Sri Lanka. ADM will be the majority owner of the jv, named Chemcel, and will market the SAP under the ADM BioSAP brand name. The BioSAP produced at the plant will be derived from starches obtained from agricultural feedstocks. The project's cost and capacity are not being disclosed.
