Minnesota start-up announces renewable MMA route

Ascenix BioTechnologies (St. Paul, MN), a renewable chemicals start-up spun out of the University of Minnesota, says it has developed a fermentation-based process to produce methyl methacrylate (MMA) that bypasses the hazardous and increasingly scarce feedstocks necessary to produce MMA from petroleum.
