Markets :: Alternative Fuels :: Bioethanol Shell and Cosan Launch Brazilian Ethanol JV10:32 AM MDT | June 13, 2011 | —REBECCA COONS Shell and Cosan say they have launched their previously announced $12-billion ethanol and transportation fuel joint venture in Brazil, creating the country’s third-largest fuel company. The jv, named Raizen, will produce and sell over 2 billion liters of sugarcane-based ethanol and distribute over 20 billion liters of other industrial and transport fuels through Shell-branded stations annually. Raizen is also expected to export ethanol to key markets in coming years, Shell and Cosan say. Raizen’s current annual production output is enough to meet 9%...
