Markets :: Alternative Fuels :: Bioethanol Novozymes Forms Sugar Pact in Brazil9:56 AM MDT | September 21, 2007 | Chemical Week Editorial Staff Novozymes says it has signed an agreement with Centro de Tecnologia Canavieira (CTC; Piracicaba, Brazil), the Brazilian sugar cane industry’s technical center, to develop bioethanol from bagasse, a residual product of sugar production. Novozymes and CTC will conduct development work in Brazil with contributions from Novozymes’ R&D centers in the U.S. and Denmark. Novozymes says it will lend its enzyme technology to the collaboration, and that it aims to develop a new process that will enable higher ethanol yield in the production process from...
