Markets :: Alternative Fuels :: Bioethanol Mascoma Granted $80-Million DOE Grant for Michigan Cellulosic Ethanol Plant11:02 AM MST | December 21, 2011 | Rebecca Coons Mascoma says it was awarded an $80-million US Department of Energy (DOE) grant to build its 20-million gals/year cellulosic ethanol plant at Kinross, MI. The award is in addition to the $20 million in DOE funding Mascoma says it received for R&D related to the project. The total cost of the facility is expected to be $232 million, and the balance will be funded by Valero Energy, Mascoma’s joint venture partner in the facility, and the state of Michigan.
