Gevo Files Additional Infringement Claims Against Butamax

Gevo (Englewood, CO) says it has filed a fourth patent infringement suit against biobased isobutanol rival Butamax Advanced Biofuels (Wilmington, DE), alleging the DuPont-BP joint venture unlawfully uses a Gevo patent covering the elimination of enzymatic pathways in yeast that hijack carbohydrates and produce unwanted products. Gevo announced today that it was awarded the patent in question, No. 8,158,404. The suit is the latest in a year-long patent fray between Gevo and Butamax.
