Ukraine plans to transform distilleries into bioethanol plants

Ukraine plans to increase its bioethanol production capabilities to 360,000 m.t./year in 2013–14 mainly by converting distilleries, according to an announcement by the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food (Kiev). The Ukrainian government intends to allocate 209.8 million hryvnias ($25.4 million) during 2013 and a further hryvnia140.2 million in 2014, to convert 29 distilleries into bioethanol-producing facilities.
