Diamond Green Diesel starts up Louisiana biorefinery

Diamond Green Diesel, a production joint venture between energy firm Valero (San Antonio, TX) and animal by-product recycler Darling International (Irving, TX) has reached mechanical completion, and the start-up process will lead to full production of renewable diesel, Darling has announced. The 9,300-bbl/day plant, once in full operation, will process recycled animal fat and used cooking oil, as well as corn oil, into renewable diesel fuel that has comparable properties to petroleum-based diesel.
