M&A: Retrenchment or Recovery?

Ashland has recently had success completing major deals, including the acquisition of specialty chemicals group Hercules for $3.3 billion and the divestment of marine services business Drew Marine to J.F. Lehman & Co. (New York) for $120 million.

Chris is one of KPMG’s most experienced Transaction Services Partners. He specialises in large complex cross-border transactions including acquisitions, divestments, mergers, joint ventures and IPO’s. Chris has worked closely with a number of large chemical companies including Syngenta and Petrochemical Industries Corporation (Kuwait) as well as other U.K. corporations and private equity clients.

Lamar Chambers
Senior V.P. and CFO, Ashland Inc.

Lamar Chambers has been CFO of Ashland since 2008 and has been involved in finance, business and administrative functions at Ashland for over three decades. He plays a critical role in all of Ashland's M&A as CFO, including the recent $3.3-billion acquisition of Hercules. He also oversees Ashland's finances and is involved in major business decision-making processes. Lamar first joined Ashland in 1976 as staff auditor for internal auditing.
