The deal, terms of which were not disclosed, follows Dow's divestment of Styron to private equity firm Bain Capital last June.

Sumitomo Dow produces PC, as well as PC compounds and blends. It has capacity for 80,000 m.t./year of PC at Ehime, Japan.

Styron produces styrenics and PC, and has sales of about $3.7 billion/year. The company makes a range of styrenic products including polystyrene, latex, and rubber.
