2:48 PM MDT | May 15, 2013 | Deepti Ramesh

Eastman Chemical has named Mark Costa as its next CEO effective 1 January 2014. Costa is currently executive v.p./additives and functional products and advanced materials. Current chairman and CEO James Rogers will continue to serve as CEO until that day and then will serve as executive chairman of the board.

Costa joined Eastman in June 2006 from Monitor Group (Cambridge, MA) as senior v.p./corporate strategy and marketing. The board also appointed Costa as a director, effective immediately, to serve until the annual meeting of stockholders in 2014.

“Mark is a proven leader who has been instrumental in developing and executing Eastman’s strategic plans for growth,” Rogers says. “I look forward to my continued service as executive chairman and to working with Mark to ensure a seamless transition.”

Rogers, 62, has been Eastman CEO since May 2009, when he succeeded Brian Ferguson. Rogers joined Eastman and senior v.p. and CFO in 1999 from GAF and had also held senior leadership roles at International Specialty Products.
