Chemweek's lab Bayer CropScience announces new food chain partners7:45 AM MST | February 25, 2013 | Lindsay Frost Bayer CropScience says it announced new Latin American partners in its Food Chain Partnership program, which includes 240 projects in 30 countries and 40 crops, offering its partners—specifically farmers and food retailers—“integrated crop solutions based on seeds, effective crop protection and services” as well as training for farmers and technicians, the company says. At the Fruit Logistica trade show in Berlin, the company showcased its latest initiatives for the Food Chain Partnership and partners including Walmart Chile, Univeg Group—a supplier of fresh produce in Brazil—and Agricola Famosa, Brazil’s largest producer and exporter of melons. “The success of the global fruit and vegetables business for all partners depends increasingly on the sustainable production of fresh produce,” says Birgitt Walz-Tylla, head of food chain management at Bayer CropScience. “At Bayer CropScience, our core competencies lie in developing and supplying locally adapted agricultural technologies and solutions aimed at improving crop productivity and quality.” |
