  • Feedstock trends: The US petrochemical industry will retain its favorable competitive position with regard to feedstock costs, while Saudi Arabia‚Äôs competitive advantage will be eroded due to a rise in raw material prices.
  • New steam cracking capacity in emerging markets will be designed to consume lighter feeds rather than naphtha.
  • Chemical output: US chemical production is improving. The Chinese slowdown, however, will remain a challenge, although prospects are expected to improve in 2016.
