Wacker Reports Higher Sales and Earnings; On Track to Reach Full-Year Targets

Wacker Chemie reported a 5% increase in Ebitda to €325 million ($468.5 million) in the second quarter of 2011 on sales 10% higher at €1.33  billion. Net income in the seond quarter reached €143 million, representing a 5.4% increase on the year-earlier quarter. Ebitda margin, however, slipped to 24.5%, compared with 25.7% in the second quarter of 2010.  Wacker, in the slilicones and polymers businesses was able to negotiate higher prices but sales were held back by currency effects, mainly due to the weaker US dollar.
