Wacker Q4 Earnings Decline on Charges, Optimistic on 2008 Outlook

Wacker Chemie posted fourth-quarter net income of €56.6 million, a decline of 32% due to one-time charges as well as higher energy costs and the negative impact of the strong euro. Quarterly sales increased 8% to €920 million, and Ebitda rose 9% to €205 million. Wacker issued an upbeat 2008 outlook, forecasting a sales increase of more than 10%. “Despite the current speculations on a global recession, Wacker had a good start into fiscal 2008,” Wacker says....
