World News and Views :: Top of the News Wacker Inaugurates Polysilicon Plant in Germany, Upbeat on Photovoltaics Market4:20 AM MDT | April 27, 2012 | Natasha Alperowicz Wacker Chemie today held an inauguration ceremony for its hyperpure polysilicon production facilities at Nünchritz, Germany. Stanislaw Tillich, the prime minister of Saxony and other officials attended the event. Wacker invested €900 million ($1.19 billion) in the project, which created more than 500 jobs. Initial production began at the site last fall and the start-up phase is now almost complete, the company says.
