World News and Views :: Top of the News Wacker Exits Solar Silicon Wafer Business12:04 PM MDT | September 30, 2009 | Natasha Alperowicz Wacker Chemie says that it has reached an agreement with Schott Solar (Alzenau, Germany), its joint venture parter in the equally owned joint venture Wacker Schott Solar (WSS; Jena, Germany), to transfer its share to its partner. With this move Wacker is exiting the solar wafer business and will concentrate its solar activities on the production of hyperpure polysilicon. Wacker expects a non-recurring negative impact on pre-tax profit of about €50 million ($73.5 million) from its share in WSS as well as an increase in financial debt of some €65...
