Wacker Chemie Reports Record Results; Achieves 50% Margin in Polysilicon

Wacker Chemie (Munich) reported a three-fold increase in Ebitda for the fourth quarter to €290 million ($394.6 million), according to preliminary figures just released. This compares with Ebitda of €95 million achieved in the corresponding period of 2009. Sales in the quarter from October through December were up 29% at €1.21 billion but dropped by close to 5% against the third quarter of last year, due to the "usual seasonal effects, particularly in construction-related business," the company says.  Wacker's chemical divisions...
