World News and Views :: Top of the News Wacker Backintegrates to Silicon Metal Production Through Acquisition1:31 AM MDT | June 7, 2010 | Natasha Alperowicz Wacker Chemie has agreed to buy Fesil Group's (Trondheim, Norway) Holla silicon metal production site in Norway for about €65 million ($81.6 million). Through this acquisition Wacker partially backintegrates to silicon metal, one of the key raw materials the company uses in the production of silicones and hyperpure polysilicon. The transaction is still subject to approval by the Wacker supervisory board and Fesil's board of directors as well as clearance by the antitrust authorities.
