U.S. Seeks Legislative Approach to Climate Change

Jonathan Pershing, U.S. deputy special envoy for climate change at the United Nations (UN) climate summit taking place in Cancun, Mexico says he is optimistic that the meeting can yield legislative agreement to curbing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Pershing, who is also head of the U.S. delegation at the summit, says “we continue to think that legislation is the right approach.” He says national legislation can be complemented in the U.S. by programs at the state level, as well as the selection of lower emissions energy options such as the shift...
