U.S. House Passes Bill to Reverse NPDES Permit Ruling1:35 PM MDT | April 11, 2011 | Kara Sissell U.S. lawmakers recently passed legislation that would eliminate pesticide permitting requirements stemming from a court ruling in the lawsuit National Cotton Council v. EPA. The court ruling requires pesticide users to obtain National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permits for pesticide applications “to, over or near water” even if those applications are already permitted under a separate law, industry representatives say. The House's Reducing Regulatory Burdens Act would amend the relevant laws to eliminate the permitting requirement. A similar bill was recently introduced in the Senate....
