The government's newly established Regional Growth Fund awarded £15 million to Cleveland Potash to mine and process polyhalite and it awarded £6.7 million to Lotte Chemical U.K. to build a polyethylene terephthalate (PET) plant. Cleveland Potash, a subsidiary of Israel Chemicals Ltd. (ICL; Tel Aviv) says geological studies indicate that more than 1 billion m.t. of polyhalite ore lie under the company's Boulby mines, where it extracts potash from deposits below the...
