Tronox Files for Chapter 11 Protection for its U.S. Operations

Tronox says it has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection for its U.S. operations, seeking relief from legacy liabilities. The filing does not include Tronox's titanium  dioxide operations outside the U.S. The non-U.S. operations are in Australia, Germany, and the Netherlands. "After careful evaluation of all strategic alternatives, we have concluded that a Chapter 11 filing is the best way to address the company's debt, in particular its legacy liabilities," says Dennis Wanlass, chairman and CEO of Tronox.
