Total Buys into U.S. Biofuels Start-up

Total says it has agreed to acquire 17% of the equity of Amyris (Emeryville, CA), a biotech firm. Financial details were not disclosed. The firms say that under their agreement their R&D teams will work together to develop new products and build biological pathways to “produce and commercialize” fuels and chemicals from renewable raw materials.
