World News and Views :: Top of the News Tosoh Restarts VCM Plant Following Fire8:22 AM MDT | July 31, 2012 | Deepti Ramesh Tosoh says it has restarted the 400,000-m.t./year No. 3 vinyl chloride monomer (VCM) plant at the company’s Nanyo complex at Shunan, Japan, on July 8, following approval from local authorities. A fire broke out following an explosion on November 13, 2011 at the company’s No. 2 VCM plant at the Nanyo complex. An employee was killed as a result of the incident. The No. 2 VCM plant, which had a production capacity of 550,000 m.t./year, and the No. 3 VCM plant were temporarily shut following the incident. The company did not say when the No. 2 VCM...
