Tosoh Reports Rise in Profits and Sales

Tosoh recorded a 45% increase in net profits for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2011, to ¥10 billion ($123 million), compared with the previous fiscal year. Sales increased 9%, to ¥684 billion. Tosoh says it has recorded an extraordinary loss due to damages and expenses resulting from the earthquake and tsunami that struck northeastern Japan on March 11. Tosoh had announced earlier that two employees of its affiliate Toho Acetylene (Tokyo) died as a result of the disaster.
