Tokuyama swings to profit

Tokuyama (Tokyo) has recorded a net profit of ¥4.51 billion ($45.7 million) for the fiscal first half, ended 30 September, compared with a net loss of ¥2.53 billion in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year. First-half sales increased by about 7.2%, to ¥135 billion. Sales increased despite lower sales volume for polysilicon products and largely because of an increase in sales volume for products such as vinyl chloride monomer (VCM) and higher selling prices for petrochemical products, Tokuyama says.
