Supreme Court agrees to review EPA GHG rules

The US Supreme Court announced today that it will hear six cases concerning whether or not EPA has overextended its authority under the Clean Air Act (CAA) by attempting to regulate greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from stationary sources. The rules in question stem from the Supreme Court’s 2007 decision in Massachusetts v. EPA, where justices upheld EPA’s authority under CAA to regulate any automotive emissions, including GHGs, that the Agency judges to be harmful to public health.
